Politics

Politics are a essential part of The Land Around. Politics affects whole territories, known as provinces.

Province

Provinces are intrincated networks of relatives. In a stateless society, big Families maintain an intricate social fabric.

Familes are grouped around chiefs, and share a common language, customs, law, and traditions. Close ties of cooperation and community work could be tested by unforeseen events.

Families have their own Alignment and Morale.

Alignment

Alignment is the general attitude of a Family towards Invasors. It could be:

Warlike

Hostile and beligerant position. Main goal is to expulse aliens, through displacement, capture, or extermination. Fair exchanges with them are very rare, and always situational.

Neutral

More flexible stance, where conflict use to be avoided in a more practical manner. Frictions and mistrusts are common, but coexistence agreements are generally respected.

Pacific

Colaborative, and friendly. Trade, marriage, joint work, exchange of knowledge and technology are expected.

Wanderer’s party share a common Alignment, as well.

Morale

Morale is a measure of an Family’s willingness to keep fighting instead of fleeing or surrendering. Same with Invasors, and creatures, as usual.

Morale also works as Loyalty, and could be used to test a Family disposition to change their Aligment from Warlike to Neutral, Neutral to Pacific, or the other way around.

Usually, Wanderers could call for a Loyalty check during a Parleying Endeavor.
